310th Divorce Court Practice and Procedure
Judge Sonya L. Heath took the bench in January of 2019. Prior to her taking the bench, the 310th was presided over by Lisa Millard. Prior to 2019 it was hard to get court time with Judge Millard and she suffered from various ailments. Judge Heath after taking the bench moved quickly to free up the bottleneck in this court. Her associate is Charles Collins, a former assistant attorney general, who has work in the family law courts of Harris County for over a decade prior to becoming her associate judge.
Trials are Mondays, Docket call is at 10:00 a.m. The court does require mediation before A temporary orders hearing if custody of a child is disputed or if the hearing is going to be longer than 30 minutes. The court also limits each side in temporary orders to 45 minutes a side if no children issues and then 1.5 hours a side if children issues.
