Attorneys and Bios

Michael G. Busby Jr. - Houston Bankruptcy Lawyer

Mr. Busby is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Association of Debtor's Attorneys and is admitted to practice in the Federal Courts in the Southern District of Texas.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a Field Artillery Cannoner from 1989 to 1993. Mr. Busby also served in the National Guard from 1993 to 1997 in the states of Arkansas, Oklahoma and North Carolina.

Mr. Busby received his Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1996.

He graduated from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. Mr. Busby is a member of the Phi Delta Phi International Law fraternity and authored an international law legal article in a law journal published by South Texas College of Law.

Mr. Busby has been faithfully married for 18 years and is the proud father of two daughters, Viktoria and Hannah Busby and father of Willam Maximus "Billy Max" Busby.

Eric Southward

Mr. Southward is a member of the State Bar of Indiana and is admitted to practice in the Southern District of Texas, Northern District of Illinois, and the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. He is a member of the Houston Association Debtor's Attorneys and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.

Mr. Southward has nine years of federal bankruptcy and consumer law experience. Prior to joining Busby & Associates, he was a Senior Managing Attorney with Legal Helpers, P.C., a national bankruptcy firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. While at Legal Helpers, Eric oversaw its regional offices and previously managed its Indianapolis, Indiana office.

Prior to the practice of law, Mr. Southward was a marketing manager with an advertising and marketing firm and a pharmaceutical research company, both based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Prior to that, he was a national account manager with magazine publishing services company based in Des Moines, Iowa.

Although raised and schooled in Iowa, Eric is a native Texan, born in Corpus Christi. He has re-joined his family, who all reside in the greater Houston area now. Mr. Southward received his undergraduate degree in 1992 from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, and his law degree in 1999 from Indiana University.

ERNIE GARCIA

Ernie Garcia is an of-counsel attorney handling Business Law and Criminal Law matters. After graduating Cum Laude from The University of Houston in 2000, Mr. Garcia went on to teach 8th grade English in the Fifth Ward/Denver Harbor neighborhood of Houston.

Six years later, Sr.Garcia was accepted into South Texas College of Law. While a student at STLC, Mr. Garcia was a finalist in the Spurgeon Bell Intramural Moot Court Competition and served as Treasurer and President of the schools Hispanic Law Student Association. Along with working as a law clerk for Busby and Associates, while Mr. Garcia was a law student he served as an intern for both State Senator Dan Patrick and the Harris County District Attorney's Office as a member of the South Texas Law Review. Mr. Garcia will have his comment published this summer: National Security, Unskilled Labor, and Why the U.s. Should Overhaul its Immigration Policy.

Ernie Garcia is a Deacon at Grace Family Church in Spring, TX, and he volunteers with Go Forth Student Ministries and Kid Zone Children's Ministry along with his wife Jasmine. Mr. Garcia is a proud father of three: Joshua, Zoe, and Emilia. He loves spending time with his family and enjoys writing fiction in his spare time.

Stacy Ly

Stacy Ly was born in Vietnam but grew up in Houston, Texas. Stacy grew up speaking Cantonese and Vietnamese at home and learned English in school. Stacy attended New Caney High School and graduated third in her class and continued her education at University of Houston. While taking full time courses in college, Stacy worked as restaurant manager in the food & beverage industry.

Stacy earned her bachelor degree in Business Management from University of Houston in 2005. Stacy also earned her bachelor degree in Spanish and a minor degree in Mandarin Chinese from University of Houston in 2006. Stacy attended Appalachian School of Law in Virginia, and graduated with Juris Doctorate in 2010.

While in law school, Stacy clerked for the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office in Buchanan County in Virginia. Stacy also interned for the Lone Star Legal Aid Clinic in downtown Houston during her first summer of law school. Additionally, for summers of 2008 and 2009, Stacy interned for Judge Tim Taft at the First Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas. After graduation, Stacy joined Busby & Associates as a law clerk and quickly advanced to Associate Attorney position. Stacy handles both Family Law and Wills/Estate planning and Probate/Guardianship cases.

As a practicing attorney at Busby & Associates, Stacy's focus area is primarily family law involving issues of child custody, conservatorship, child support, and paternity. In addition, Stacy has also mediated family law cases with third party mediators.

Stacy is admitted to practice by the Texas State Bar Association and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Stacy is currently a member of the Asian America Bar Association and the National Asian Pacific Bar Association.

Stacy is proficient in Cantonese, English, and Spanish.

Peter Min Gyn Kim

Min Gyu Kim (Peter) concentrates his practice in the area of bankruptcy and civil litigation. Peter is a first generation immigrate from South Korea who has overcome the complexity of life through diligence and hard work. Peter engages each and every case with the same persistence and work ethic to assist his clients to achieve success regarding the issues that his clients are faced with.

In his spare time, Peter enjoys "tasting" variety of international foods with his family and friends. On the weekends, you can see Peter with his dog, Oh-dal, (husky mix) at the various dog parks around Houston.

Mark A. Correro—Criminal Attorney

Attorney Mark A. Correro graduated from South Texas College of Law where he was an articles editor for the South Texas Law Review and an intern for the First Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas for retired Chief Justice Frank Evans. He was on the Dean’s Honor List and received numerous honors and awards including the Professor Barber Distinguished Service Award and the Clements, O’Neil, Pierce, & Nickens award for Best Article on Federal Law, and was a Langdell Scholar in Constitutional Law. He has published over 14 legal articles including, Why Neuroscience Matters for a Rational Drug Policy, 11.1 MINN. J.L. SCI. & TECH. 11 (Winter 2010).

Rosario Stornello—Criminal Attorney

Attorney Rosario Stornello graduated from South Texas College of Law in 1998. He was licensed to practice law in Texas in 1998 when he began working as an Assistant District Attorney at Henderson county DA’s office from 1998-2000 and then at Harris County DA’s office 2000-2006. In 2006 he opened the Stornello Law Firm representing criminal law cases because he believes you are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
